TRI Corp Issues Warning

UUNN Newswire

(UUNN HQ)  The following was released today by Dr. Zhia Khatdinal, Director of Astrophysics and Cartography for TRI Corp:

 *  *  * ALERT *  *  *

A dark-energy wave has been detected and is expected to reach our space tomorrow.  While this event is similar to the one that caused The Catastrophe ten years ago, it is much less powerful.  It is expected to result in some minor time-disruption.  For most this should only be approximately one hour.

Other symptoms could include tiredness, mild headache and nausea — though if you experience this it could also simply be a hangover.

TRI-R Astrophysics and Cartography will continue to monitor the situation.

Commemoration Planned for 10th Anniversary of The Restoration

UUNN Newswire

(UUNN HQ) There are less than two weeks to go until the 10th Anniversary of Restoration Day and TRI Corporation has announced that the Factions have contracted it to create an exclusive new medalmedal1040 (Restoration Decennial) 2 to be awarded to each pilot who logs in for duty on that day (12:01am UTC – 12 midnight UTC).

Current and Retired Pilots are encouraged to log in for duty — even if only for a short time — to help commemorate this special day.

The Restoration is the period of time between The Catastrophe (112.4.30) and 113.12.28 — the date TRI Corporation officially activated station launch systems and opened jumpgates (i.e. “Restoration Day.”)

122.4.30 Marks a Milestone Anniversary

by Thane Carios

(Solrain Core) I remember 112.4.30 . . . spending a late evening, relaxing with a Solrain Stoudt, listening to JPR.  Then everything went black on Solrain Core Station.  We lived in the dark for weeks while engineering teams struggled to get emergency systems back online.  First the air scrubbers.  Then the water processors.  It was a miracle many, many more didn’t die in those dark weeks.

It seems more like a hundred years ago than ten.

To memorialize The Catastrophe once again I’ll offer this recording of Sarath V‘s final speeech on the third anniversary (he died six months later), because I don’t believe any other words would be better.

Given the significance of this anniversary, Solrain has planned no major celebrations this year for it’s annual Alkotó holiday

The Curious Case of the “Gents”

by Ares Kiden

(Octavius Core Station) Two days ago there was some strange news that came out of Hasdrubar Carto’s Office on Octavius Core. They were calling for the pilot Gent to turn himself in, but they never indicated why. Not even a trumped-up fake-news kind of charge. He had a -6 PR with Oct, but we’ve all been there at some point.  Didn’t seem to be worth all of the fuss.

Then yesterday, this same pilot started broadcasting gibberish on F5:

gent-f5 120.4.23

Some suggested that these are some kind of distress calls and I don’t think they’re wrong.  I contacted the Security Office on Oct Core to ask whether he had turned himself in yet, but they did not respond. Continue reading

Seven Years Later; Still No Answers

An Opinion
by Ares Kiden

(UUNN HQ)  Tomorrow is the Solrain holiday Alkotó … Founders Day . . . The Closing  . . . it’s a traditional, ancient holiday and it’s a business holiday (end of the Fiscal Year for almost every Solrain company).

But it’s also the day the lights went out seven years ago — the anniversary of The Catastrophe —  and it seems like everyone has forgotten about it.  Five years ago there was a symposium to debate and discuss  its possible causes.  There were two groups formed from that symposium but there does not appear to be any record of a subsequent work effort from either group. The (Unregulated) Update

unregulated-updateVol. III, No. 1 – by Ares Kiden

Five Years

Very little has gone on since the last issue, but I just had to do an Update to talk about the fifth anniversary of The Restoration.

On 113.12.28, Jumpgates were reopened — just about 20 months after the event we know as The Catastrophe, that disrupted gates, fried databases and destroyed a lot of other infrastructure.  Although it was not as deadly or cataclysmic as The Great Collapse, it shook all of the pilots and all of the factions to their core, reminding all just how little control we have over the immense stellar forces that wash across the galaxy and how easily governments, cultures, infrastructure and people can be wiped away.

So now we stand here five years later.  And while some have returned to taking things for granted, I believe that the vast majority of us appreciate every jumpgate, beacon, station and ship because we know how easily it can all just disappear — or at the very least — be rendered unusable.

Happy fifth anniversary of The Restoration to you all.

The (Unregulated) Update

Martius in the News

About a month ago, Emperor Septus named his nephew as the new Supreme Military Strategist — which was surprising only in that it took so long for him to boot Ares Prime’s Petillius Lucanus out.  Then, last week, a sniper took shots at Aqilus’ hunting party, killing a Praetorian identified as “Kasius” — who it turns out was Kasius Faust, the Emperor’s personal guard.

And while it seems unconnected Aqilus, Martius also announced a vague partnership with Hyperial.  I have yet to find out what that is all about. Continue reading

The (Unregulated) Update

unregulated-updateVol I, No. 6 – by Ares Kiden

Sorry that I’ve been away a while.  Here’s an update of some recent news . . .

Ship Broadcasts Repeated Gibberish
Pilots have reported that Rauder-1 has been periodically broadcasting hex code over the F5 global chat channel.  Some pilots have replied, but have received no response. Rauder-1 is the test-drone which was originally tested by Hyperial on 117.4.14 (see article below).

New Timeline Resource
A new historical resource has been launched in a cooperative effort between TRI-Databank, the Sarath V Memorial Library and UUNN.  The new resource is an interactive timeline, which updates the old JOSSH timeline and includes some interesting new functionality.  It can be accessed HERE.
