(Petrios, Quanus) Quantar leaders decided that this year’s Miners’ Days holiday will focus on its roots — local dirtside blessings, parades and traditions.
“Miners’ Days has very humble roots,” said Vazir A’Quina Meniokee. “Spontaneous local parades are the true Quani tradition — with miners putting away their tools for the day, and marching through streets singing traditional miners’ reels, and carrying ceremonial shovels, chisels or picks (which are often heirlooms handed down for generations). It’s just a day of good-natured revelry with family, friends and neighbors,” she added.
The Vazir did point out that there will be a couple of Holiday activities for pilots:
On 120.9.4, the now-traditional Parable of Karadron recording will once again be released on UUNN.
On 120.9.5 from 12:01a – 12:00 midnight UTC (i.e. all day) there wil be a Pure Mining Contest — pilots, Quantar or gefir, who mine-out the most pure asteroids during this 24-hour period will win the following:
-
-
- 1st Place – the Spade of Karadron award, a CM4 and 3 Antiflux ECMs
- 2nd Place – Keval’s Thanks award and a CM4
- 3rd place – Keval’s Thanks award and a CM3
-
Anyone mining 5 or more pure asteroids during the day will receive a Captain’s Commendation badge.
Meniokee also said that temples in all cities, town and stations will be offering a traditional Blessing of the Shovels along with the Parable readings.
