(Amananth) For the second time in under a week, The Sea of Shadows sector was cut off from the rest of space by Conflux Infestations in the Last Parsec and The Split gates. While this is not a major trade lane, many are suspicious that something may be going on in that sector.
Pilots are encouraged to open up those infestations as quickly as possible, and then to scan The Sea of Shadows thoroughly, promptly reporting any unusual findings.

(Amananth Station) According to unnamed sources within TRI Corp., five days ago, a Solrain Traveler-Class Transport ship registered to Tache Uzelin was found floating in The Depths, approximately 71,000 meters out beyond the C2201 gate. The cockpit/lifepod wad missing, but the ship was otherwise undamaged and powered-down.
Uzelin’s ship was found by a Quantar pilot who was artifact hunting in The Depths. That pilot asked to remain anonymous. Upon finding the Solrain “derelict,” the pilot immediately reported it to the STCC, but TRI-SEC was first on the scene. They did a preliminary investigation, searching the area for evidence of exactly what happened, and then took possession of the ship.
Tache Uzelin was the former head of TRI-DEF but moved to the private sector once the TRI Charter was non-renewed. Uzelin had most recently been working as a defense consultant to the STCC.
TRI-SEC has not released any official statement on its findings.

(Solrain Core) Today fluxing Ace Vorlon31 was seen in in Sol Core station, enjoying a Solrain Stout as his Intensity was taken out of mothballs and prepared for a new tour of duty, fighting the Conflux Menace.
Vorlon31 made his name as the all-time leader in Flux Kills before The Catastrophe. He was heard in the Sol Core hangar bay saying he looked forward to equaling and surpassing his old records.
Vorlon31’s return from retirement means trade lanes will soon be a slightly safer place for Haulers and Miners.
Lets hope those Solrain mechanics hurry up.

Hey, pilots, this is Flash Wileeson, your “DJ Flash,” reporting on UUNN with a FLASHCast News Update!
This one is from the UUNN Mailbag, submitted by pilot Nimdas.
A few days ago, on 114.5.21, Nimdas was in the middle of a Solrain Military tour of duty but he decided to begin his flight plan with a Conflux hunting mission and some Solrain beacon tuning.
While on his way tuning and fluxing between Sol SDS and Cornea, Nimdas saw a pilot widely known as a pirate, piloting a freighter. Nimdas immediately pursued and opened fire – but he immediately realized his mistake when he was slapped with a temporary bounty. The “infamous pirate” was currently civilian- tagged!
Things went from bad to worse when Nimdas got to Cornea where defending himself against a low-level bounty hunter and a Mk. I defense drone resulted in three Sol-military demerits, and a political rating in the tank. The only positive was that Nimdas, because of his earlier fluxing and beac-tuning, was promoted to Senior Contractor and would be able to upgrade his ship to an Invader.
Nimdas headed to Wake station, docked and purchased the Invader — but as he initiated a system-check suddenly his power systems shut down, leaving him in the dark.
Getting out of his ship with a hand-held emergency light, Nimdas did a walk-around and found the ship was completely equipped all with noob gear. The docking bay bots had failed to transfer his Interceptor gear over. And with his recently-decimated political rating he couldn’t buy what he needed.
Solrain military sources said that the demerits won’t be kept on Nimdas’ permanent pilot record, but he is on his own for recovering his PR and a decent set of equipment.

(Outpost Station) One the final day of this year’s Feast of the Fallen, Emperor Cineon presented three of the highest awards given by Octavius to its pilots with National Honors going to Algore; Night’s Blade going to _RAZAAR_ and Emperor’s Emissary going to Toulos.
When asked how these particular pilots were chosen, Cineon responded, “Aveg et H’nore (Glory and Honor). That is at the heart of everything for Octavius. These pilots have brought Glory and Honor to Octavius through their actions.” Cineon also went on to say, “These things usually are awarded to committed factionalists, but also to those, like Toulus, who brought honor upon themselves — and our entire people – through their actions.”
Toulus was the first Octavian to achieve Optimus since The Catastrophe two years ago.
Fight Club Medals were also awarded to Filzi (for The Last Dragon I on Saturday) and kresch (for The Last Dragon II on Sunday).

(Greater Locks) Earlier this week, pilots spork and Nimdas reported a swarm on the Octavius/Solrain border that seemed to appear from nowhere just as a swarm disappeared from deep in unreg.
“I launched from GBS,” spork told us, “then I flew through a swarm in Saron’s Shoulder that maxed at nautiliods. Soon after that, I saw the ALERT system mention it had moved to Inner Gyre. I noticed on f5: that Nimdas mentioned a swarm in Sol space, so I checked the map. The swarm from IG was gone. When I docked, I looked back through the chat log. The last reported location by ALERT was Inner Gyre. Then there was a little pause, and the next ALERT said a swarm had entered Sol space from Dark Gateway (with no mention of one a few minutes prior…as far back as my log went).”
Nimdas later confirmed that the swarm on the border of Oct/Sol space also had nautiloids as its highest level of conflux drone.
Dr. Aulus Calatorius, the pre-eminent expert on Conflux Studies, was contacted and had this to say: “Though unlikely, it does seem plausible from the scenario presented that the swarm jumped from Inner Gyre to Outer Lighthouse using a route unknown to pilots. We will simply need more data to be sure. Swarms typically travel from sector to sector along our jumpgate routes, though they do not use the gates themselves. The Conflux mode of sector-to-sector travel is still a mystery to us.”
A copy of this information was forwarded to the Dr. Zhia Katdinal, TRI Corp. Director of Astrophysics and Cartography, for further study.

(Outpost Station) Today in a rare act for a member of the royalty, Emperor Cineon personally flew up to Outpost station from the planet Cinatus below. He remained in Outpost sector space for nearly an hour conducting the opening ceremony for this year’s Feast of the Fallen, the Recitation of the Heroes, where the name of an Octavian warrior or hero from the past is called out aloud and the hero’s accomplishments and victories are recalled.
Early in the ceremony, Jellyfish appeared in the space around the station, followed by an attack from a Sentient c9 Kraken. The Sentient seemed to target the Emperor’s Dragon heavy fighter directly. Pilots Shadowhart, -Mabasha-, Filzi, and Mas-0 were all in the area providing support, however it was Emperor Cineon himself that brought down the Conflux interloper! Once defeated, the Sentient did not return, and the Emperor, somewhat invigorated by the action, resumed his speech.
Various Fallen (and “Fallen Away”) Heroes of Octavius were named by Cineon and many other pilots over f5:chat including: Quincitius II (Cineon’s father, assassinated some 16 years ago), Enkido Khan (Thrice Seven Explorer who discovered Amananth), Savo, The Tyke, Lxholla, WileE, Ridgeway, SHUG, BladeR, Magnus-Ex, Fellblade, {ND}Falcon, Razorskiss, Odiche, Zaltys, Havik, Wyx, and others.
The Emperor concluded the ceremony by docking at Outpost and buying every pilot docked an Oct Lite for several toasts.

(Outpost Station) The explosion at the Octavia Lite production facility on 114.5.21 has been officially ruled accidental by Imperial Corps of Engineers (ICE) investigators.
“This was a freak accident,” said Darel Tassker for ICE. “We had a failure of a pressure release valve that caused the fermenting tank to explode. All of the injuries were cuts, contusions and abrasions.”
When asked about the rumors flying around, Tassker said, “This was an accident, pure and simple. The conspiracy theorists will just have to be disappointed this time.”
Octavian Tri-Emperor Cineon, who is Grand Marshal of this year’s holiday, is expected to fly out from Cinatus to Outpost Station at some point for Feast of the Fallen events and ceremonies which start this Friday, 114.5.23. According to sources within the Imperial Guard, exhaustive random security sweeps are being conducted on all buildings, factories and stations throughout Outpost sector.
Pilots are encouraged to bring repair beams to Outpost sector to help repair the facility.

(Outpost Station) Three workers were injured today in a small explosion within the Octavia Lite Custom Producer in Octavius Outpost sector.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the explosion took place in the fermentation section of the production facility. Oct Lite fermentation has temporarily halted while the explosion is being investigated. Overall production should not be impacted.
Although there are rumours the this explosion could somehow be linked to an attempt to disrupt the Feast of the Fallen holiday set to kick-off here this Friday, none of those rumours have been confirmed or substantiated in any way.

(Outpost Station) Plans were announced today for the upcoming Octavian major three-day holiday known as The Feast of the Fallen. This ancient Octavian holiday is celebrated in three different phases: The Day of Remembering, The Day of Battle and the Day of Feasting. This year’s holiday runs from 114.5.23 through 114.5.25.
“It is important for us to take time to remember the Heroes who have shed their blood for Octavius. Remembering them in our hearts and in our actions is the greatest honor we can offer,” said Octavian Tri-Emperor Cineon, the Grand Marshal of this year’s celebration. I call on all loyal Octavians to put aside internal differences and to join together for these three days.”
The following statement was released by the Ministry of Culture
On The Day of Remembering (114.5.23), all Octavians are urged to join with family, friends, or squad-mates for the traditional Recitation of the Heroes, where the name of an Octavian warrior or hero from the past is called out aloud and the hero’s accomplishments and victories are recalled.
On the Day of Battle (114.5.24), Octavians are called upon to tune beacons red throughout space for the entire day. Members of lesser factions are welcome to challenge those actions. There will also be a tournament in the Open Space Simulator at 16:00 GMT called “The Last Dragon.” All contestants will fly the Dragon heavy fighter with the load-out of their choice. Pilots from other factions are allowed to join.
On the Day of Feasting (114.5.25), all are urged to enjoy to good company of family and friends to celebrate Heroes past and present, and to look together toward the glorious future. At 16:00 GMT in Outpost Station, Tri-Emperor Cineon will lead the annual ceremony where National Honors, Night’s Blade and Emperor’s Emissary awards will be given to deserving pilots from Octavian factionalist squads or other Octavian pilots who have made notable achievements or who have performed a special service to The Empire.
