Oct Engineers Give Repair Go-Ahead

UUNN Newswire

(Oct Core) Using data gathered during the recent imaging and scanning analysis, Octavius engineeringengineers have determined that the remaining structure of the Plutonium Factory in Octavius Core is sound enough to repair — rather than demolish and replace — the structure.

Octavius has initiated a mission to bring the needed supplies to Oct Core station.  Pilots are urged to work on completing this mission as quickly as possible.

Pilots Successfully Complete Special Mission

UUNN Newswire

(Octavius Core)  The Office of Consul Tesios Muca has reported that the mission to begin the process of  repairing or replacing the damaged Plutonium Factory in Oct Core sector has been successfully completed.

“We are pleased to announce that today’s special mission was a success.  Hundreds of scans and high-resolution images were gathered by a handful of pilots today.  Engineers will now begin the laborious process of analyzing the data.  Once that is done, we can determine whether we can repair the facility, or must demolish and rebuild.”

Pilots Blonder, Eleven, Hopwil and SandGod were well rewarded for their efforts, and will be receiving Captain’s Commendations as well.

Octavius Schedules Factory Inspection Mission

by Thane Carios

(Octavius Core)  Octavius has announced that it is scheduling a special Factory Inspection Mission to determine whether repairs can commence on the damaged Plutonium Factory in Octavius Core Sector.

160730_142925“We require as much photographic and scan data as we can get,” said Consul Tesios Muca, who will coordinate the mission. “We call on all non-Quantar pilots to join us in scanning and photographing the damaged factory on Tuesday, 116.9.13 at 20:00 UTC.  The mission will last approximately 30 minutes.”

Muca also said that pilots joining the mission will be rewarded with up to 50 Octavius Pol-Rating Points; 500,000 credits; a Captain’s Commendation; and ten units of Octavia Lite.

Solrain Engineers Baffled by DSS Collection

UUNN Newswire

(Wake Station)  The Solrain Engineering & Technology Group (ETG) has reported that it has been unable to make any inroads with data recovery for the 284 DSS that were uncovered in a Cornea Station storage hold just under two weeks ago.

According to a source within the ETG , they have had absolutely no success in recovering data from these DSS so far, and have asked Jalil Aq’tamm to provide some consulting services.

Neither Solrain nor the ETG have confirmed this.

DSS Decryption Contest Yields Three Very Different Pieces of History

UUNN Newswire

(UUNN HQ) One of the events during this year’s Miners’ Days Holiday was one called “Uncovering Our History.”  For this event, three datasets were released from DSS that had been recovered in Quantar space.

The decryption of DSS-1 was done by Hammer-BS.  It is an ancient Quantar children’s poem from The Book of Prophets.  Unfortunately, the DSS did not appear to be dated in any way, so it is not possible to tell just how old this particular version of the poem was.

Here he comes,
Black as night,
Come to steal our hearth-homes!
There he goes,
Black as night,
Gone away with gemstones!
If he finds you,
Run and hide!
Here comes the Kahro!

DSS-2 was decrypted by lordzuon, and it is a not-too-old TRINN article about the controversial Quantar monk Brother Io, who was found murdered in 103AT.

103.10.20 by Zoe Vexel
The body found last week at Quantar Core station has been formally identified as that of Malum Ionus, a well-known and often outspoken High Priest of Quantar. The body, although badly decomposed, was identified by DNA testing and dental records.
A brief statement was issued by the Tahirs:
“The death of Malum Ionus is truly a tragedy for Quantar. We join all of Quantar in mourning his departure, but we take comfort in the knowledge that Hamalzah watches over him now.
“Brother Io’s death is no accident, and those who are responsible for this heinous act shall be brought to swift justice, according to the ways of Quantar.”
Unnamed sources within the Quantar internal security service indicate that the investigation is focused on Brother Io’s previous dealings with elements of the Octavian government.

DSS-3 was also decrypted by Hammer-BS, though he was not eligible for a prize (the rules specified one entry per pilot).  Since no one else attempted a decryption, we publish his effort here — though there is quite a bit of corruption.  Where there are brackets [], we have attempted to deduce the intended words.

Miners’ Days Wrap-Up

by Yaz Shanndar

(Quantar Core)  Crews are still cleaning up in Quantar Core after the completion, yesterday, of the three-day Miners’ Days Festival.  The festival had a schedule filled with activities and events — and a list of awards that was just as long.

In addition to the previously-published list, there was a late-entrant to the DSS Decryption Contest, with lordzuon successfully decrypting Dataset #2.  He will be receiving the Seeker of Knowledge medal, along with an EB-3.

There was also a total of 36 Captain’s Commendations going to to the many people who participated in the activities and events:  Agnot (1), Ambrosius (1), Bayonette (4), DETSAW (1), Drevent (3), Firefly (3), Hammer-BS (7), Hopwil (3), Jalil (1), lordzuon (2), Maniac (2), Me.1 (2), Occam (1), Rancor (4) and Veloxi (1).

Finally, the Echoes of Hope medal was awarded to Hammer-BS for his efforts in running the “Searching for our History” DSS Artifact Hunt; and to spork for running the “Quantar GreenER” and “Quantar GreenEST” tuning missions on Saturday and Sunday.

“It was an amazing holiday,” said Third Tahir, Dr. Silas Tashawar — host of the festivities.  “Although you always hope for more participation, you can tell from the Captain’s Commendations that we had many people involved in all the events throughout the holiday.”

The only total miss in the holiday schedule was the JPR FLASHCast special that never aired due to technical issues at Jumpgate Pirate Radio.

  3. What is the mass of 1u of Common Ore?
  4. Name one commodity that can be refined from four of the five ore types.
  5. Who licensed the fusion technology to Venurian Prospecting that is used in the Deep Radar?

Questions must be submitted to quantar@tri-subspace.net.  They should be received by midnight (UTC) tonight.

Answer all five questions correctly:  Karadron’s Spade medal

Answer 1 to 4 questions correctly:   Keval’s Thanks award

ALL participants:  Captain’s Commendation.

Quantar “Uncovering Our History” Datasets Released

UUNN Newswire

(Quantar Core)  Quantar has released the three datasets to be used in the Miners’ Days “Uncovering Our History” event with the following instructions:

  • Participants may try to decode as many of the datasets as they like, but you may only submit one for the contest.  If we have already received a successful decryption of the DSS you submitted, we will notify you and you will have the opportunity to try to decrypt one of the other DSS.
  • The data should not only be decrypted, but where there is corruption, you must attempt to interpolate to make sense of the information.  It is also important to try to determine a date wherever possible.
  • Your should submit your one decrypted DSS entry to quantar@tri-subspace.net.
  • The first pilot to submit a successful decryption for each DSS will win the Seeker of Knowledge award along with an EB-3.  ALL those submitting a decryption attempt will receive a Captain’s Commendation.

THESE ARE THE DATASETS
