Nelson Responds

By Thane Carios
(UUNN HQ) In this brief interview via secure subspace channels, the Hyperial Station Governor has denied any involvement in the demise of former Directorate member and Mayor of Barnard candidate Berl Rismore.
Carios: It’s been an eventful few days …
Nelson: It has.
Carios: What is your response to the Directorate’s allegations?
Nelson: Well, it’s kind of shocking . . . out of the blue. I did hear about the emergency session of The Directorate. They kept things very tight and I was not able to gather any information regarding what was going on. Then … this. Of course I had nothing to do with Rismore’s murder. Frankly I’m just not a very political animal. I took this job back in 111 because Graham (Talut) was moving up and the Presdent asked me to take over here. They seemed to be OK with the job I’ve been doing sinc they re-appointed me seven months ago.
Carios: So what happens now?
Nelson: Well until I figure out what is going on … it’s business as usual. I just initiated an important mission to build a new production facility and I intend to see that through. Meanwhile, HSS controls this sector so they can yammer all they want dirtside. I’m going to find out how this started, what alleged “evidence” they used and who is supporting me. Then we’ll see. I don’t even know whether the Hyperial Charter allows them to do this.
Carios: Isn’t that political suicide?
Nelson: As I said, I’m not political.
Carios: Have you had any direct contact with any members off The Directorate . . . or the President or Chief Justice?
Nelson: Probably best not to discuss that.
Carios: Thanks for your time and candor.
UUNN will, of course, continue to follow this developing story.

(UUNN HQ) The Hyperial Directorate has released the following statement:

An emergency session of The Directorate was convened this week after information was received regarding the 118 murder of Directorate Member and Mayor of Barnard candidate Berl Rismore.  This information provides strong evidence that H.A. Nelson, our current Station Governor and Commandant of the HSS, was a deeply involved in the murder as well as the subsequent cover-up.

Therefore, this body, after careful deliberation, has decided to hand down an indictments of H.A. Nelson and HSS Asst Commandant Lerril Bade for the murder of Berl RismoreNelson has been notified that he has been relieved of his duties and has been commanded to turn himself in for official processing.

The Hyperial statement confirms the earlier information received regarding Nelson’s ouster, but opens up many new questions regarding Nelson’s alleged role in the murder and the nature of the evidence driving such a major decision.
