Fifth Anniversary of The Catastrophe

UUNN Newswire

This Sunday, 117.4.30, is the fifth anniversary of The Catastrophe when an energy pulse — hypothesized to be dark-matter lensing — swepth through space, shutting down critical systems and severely damaging all of the jumpgates.

As with every year, this anniversary overlaps with the Solrain Alkotó/Founder’s Day holiday although Solrain has planned no space-based celebrations this year.

New Interactive Timeline Released

UUNN Newswire

In a cooperative effort between TRI-Databank, the Sarath V Memorial Library and UUNN, an interactive time line has been developed to record important historical events running from 3900 BT to the present.  It includes information that had been available on previous, static timelines and has been updated with new information.  Entries are sized based on universal importance and color-coded for faction-specific events. Expert Speaks on Recent Infestation Data

by Thane Carios

(Cornea Station) Conflux expert Professor Athena ShaiDen of Sutonia College announced today that more data is needed on Conflux Infestations.  On 117.3.30 ShaiDen used a new technique to collect data on Conflux infestations, employing a customized narrow-beam scanner and taking readings from the infestation’s plasma port as it was being destroyed by nukes from the other side of the gate.

“We go some really great data,” said ShaiDen, “but we really need more to make the information useful.  Unfortunately, you need to use special equipment and be at the right place at the right time.  I was really lucky the last time.  It was not a planned thing.  And infestations have not been happening that frequently.”

“Not that I’m complaining,” she added.

ShaiDen said she is looking into the possibility of assembling a small team to assist in data collection, but is not ready to announce any details.  “I need to figure out how many narrow-beam scanning kits I can get funded before taking this further,” she said.

Hyperial Announces Successful Drone-Ship Test

UUNN Newswire

(Hyperial)  The Hyperial Department of Technology announced that is has successfully tested a prototype drone jump-ship.

Today we successfully completed the initial jump tests of a prototype remotely controlled jump-ship.  The ship, named Rauder-1 in honor of our former president, successfully ran an anomaly scan mission in Outer Cloud sector — two jumps from Hyperial.  All commands were executed within parameter and we are currently analyzing the logs for all systems.

This is the first time in recent history that Hyperial has had direct control of a jump-ship.  Because it never joined TRI, Hyperial has no access to the genetic modification process needed by jump pilots and has previously had to rely on mercenary pilots.

Sources indicate that the Hyperial prototype ships actually used an Octavian Peregrine hull.

Perasca Archaeologists Unearth Armor

by Yaz Shanndar

(Sa’ing Matar, Perasca)  More than three months after the original announcement of the ancient site discovery on Perasca, The Quantar Council on Antiquities has released the first image of an artifact retrieved from the site along with the following statement:

We have completed reconstruction and preservation from partial body armor foundSa'ing Matar Armor at the subterranean site in Jekara, outside Sa’ing Matar.  All evidence points to a dating of this site somewhere between 2,900 BT and 2,800 BT.  The levels of technology of this armor, and at the site in general, are inconsistent with what we previously believed to be in existence at this point in Quantar history.

Several sources outside the Council on Antiquities have expressed shock both at the finding, and at the release.  “They have dropped an absolute bomb,” said one non-Quantar archaeologist who asked not to be identified.  “For months now they have kept an air-tight lid on all information and now they release this armor and tell us that they are essentially finding very modern tech during a time that was previously believed to be technologically primitive.  It makes no sense.”

No additional details on the site or recoveries from the site were available from the Council on Antiquities.

Subspace Transceiver Repaired
Pilots finally rallied to repair  the subspace transceiver in The Narrow Canal, and Solrain pilots are once again happily receiving KTRI broadcasts.  There is still no word on how the transceiver was damaged in the first place.

Octs Debate DSS History
The Octavius Emperors from Ares Prime and Martius seem to be having a dispute about the historical fragment recently found on a DSS.  What is being lost in the whole “whose sword is bigger” debate is the fact that this thing might be one of the oldest pieces of history we have found to-date and may even hint at our roots. Evenings End Station Infested

UUNN Newswire

(UUNN HQ)  Just days after infesting the Connexion, Conflux sentients have — for the first time — completely infested a station.  TRI Corporation, which manages the four trading postrelic trading-post stations in unregulated space, has appointed engineering specialist April Trottel to review old design specifications to determine exactly how to clear the infestation.  It is feared that the normal nuclear-missile solution could irreparably damage the  ancient station.

Pilots are encouraged to scan, but not nuke the station at this point.
