(Danubia, Martius) For the first time in 50 years, the war helmet of Emperor Atticus VI will be made available for public display.
“The last time it was displayed was for the 100th anniversary of his death,” said Anto Islin, Legate for Danubia Province. “Emperor Septus felt it appropriate to made it available to the public again on the 150th anniversary of his death.”
The public display at the Imperial Heritage Museum in Danubia will begin tomorrow, 117.12.2 — the anniversary of Atticus’ death — and will continue until the end of the year.
Atticus VI (85 BT – 33 BT) is best known as the last Emperor of a unified Octavius. Atticus VI took that throne in 45.8 BT after the culmination of the Unification Wars. Atticus VI held the throne for just 12 years, dying at age 52
(Ares Prime) Emperor Venticus Marius released a brief statement today on the upcoming commemoration of Exorzismus.
Hail Octavius! On the last day of this month, we commemorate one of our most sacred days — Exorzismus. It is a day for introspection and atonement. It is a day to refresh our deepest selves. A day when we make ourselves stronger, more focused and more dedicated to the Empire.
Viris en Unitis!
This year, as in most years, there are no official commemorations or ceremonies. The Octavius Ministry of Culture reiterated its guidelines for commemoration of Exorzismus :
This is a day of fasting. Food should not be served at any public establishments. Jump pilots are encouraged to remove all Organic Food and Manufactured Food from Oct Core, Great Pillars and Outpost stations. The drinking of water — as well as any ales, beers or meades brewed in Octavius — is acceptable.
This is a day of atonement, where the sins required of us in the past years are burned Public bonfires are encouraged. The burning of any homes or buildings is strongly discouraged. While bonfires on out stations cannot be allowed, pilots can join together to heat up a roid until it turns blue to symbolically enjoy its “fire” within.
This is a day of silence. While we do speak among our clan mates and friends, and kind of public chatter should be left to the lesser factions. WE should remain silent on those venues.
(Outpost Station) The festivities are over, most of the celebrants have regained sobriety, the maintenance crews have finished putting Outpost Station back in order and through it all there was little news, issues or fanfare about the latest Feast of the Fallen 117 holiday.
This years highlight was Emperor Cineon’s appearance in Outpost sector to do the Recitation of Heroes. Although it would not seem notable, Cineon’s Recitation was interrupted by a Sentient Conflux attack in 114 and Clements IV was assassinated as he was beginning his recitation in 115. Last year Emperor Septus decided that the better part of valor was discretion, and did his Recitation from the Palace Grounds on Martius. Continue reading →
(Cinatus) Octavius Outpost station will be the center of this year’s Feast of the Fallen holiday, which runs from 117.5.26 through 117.5.28 with Emperor Cineon I presiding over the annual three-day celebration. Cineon last presided over the holiday in 114. Just a year later, the holiday was devastated by the assassination of Clements IV as he began the Recitation of Heroes. Last year’s event, led by Emperor Atticus Septus, was somewhat muted with most of the official festivities dirtside on Martius.
Although this year’s space-based activities will continue to be fairly limited, Cineon has insisted on holding the Recitation of Heroes out in space once again.
Day of Remembering – 117.5.26
At 18:00 UTC Emperor Cineon will lead the Recitation of Heroes, where the name of an Octavius warrior or hero from the past is called out aloud and the hero’s accomplishments and victories are recalled. Cineon has asked the citizens of Octavius to submit their own remembrances for him to read publicly.
Day of Battle – 117.5.27
“The Bleeding Skies” — All Octavius is called upon to tune beacons RED across Octavius — and throughout all space — for the entire day.
Members of the lesser factions are welcome to challenge those actions.
Day of Feasting – 117.5.28
All are urged to enjoy to good company of family and friends to celebrate Heroes past, present, and future.
(Outpost Station) Emperor Cineon today asked for more citizen participation in the official Recitation of Heroes ceremony to be held on 117.5.26. The Recitation of Heroes is that is the highlight of the first day of the Octavius Feast of the Fallen holidays, where the names of former “heroes” of Octavius are called out publicly, sometimes with a brief remembrance.
“Some of these heroes passed to the Halls long ago,” said Governor Zenobia Zavera, who will help host this year’s holiday. “Others are retired, and other are long lost – but we still hope for their return,” she added. Continue reading →
(Etruscera, Martius) Consul Cicero Rnenta, Consul for Martius, was quick to respond to the recent statement made by Emperor Venticus of Ares Prime about recent DSS decryptions.
“They’re grasping for legitimacy,” said Consul Rnenta. “They are taking roughly 100 words that were decrytpted and interpolated from an unverified, badly corrupted DSS and turning it into a claim that our greatest legend originated on Ares. It’s not even a very well-supported theory let alone something resembling historical facts. I’m not sure whether that DSS is real history … I’m not sure exactly how old it is … and I’m especially suspect of Solrain dating appearing in something purporting to be Octavius history. (Octavius Core Station) Emperor Venticus has released a statement regarding the DSS that was deciphered roughly two weeks ago, that appeared to refer to early Octavius.
It gratifies us that another bit of the great history of Octavius has been unveiled. The story fragment on the DSS deciphered by pilot Nafcon tells a story of our very earliest days – around 2700 BT. While we have no records of the admiral mentioned in this text or the “8th Expedition” – what appears to be clear is that this admiral was instrumental in establishing the beginning of our empire, and he did it here … on Ares Prime. Our historians believe that pieces of this story may have actually contributed to one of our greatest legends – the legend of the Golden Emperor.
We have already begun negotiations with Dorator Tech to be provided access to any further, related information it may find. We encourage pilots to search Octavius Shore for DSS, since this is where this particular find was made.
