Hail Octavius!  On the last day of this month, we commemorate one of our most sacred days — Exorzismus.  It is a day for introspection and atonement.  It is a day to refresh our deepest selves.  A day when we make ourselves stronger, more focused and more dedicated to the Empire.

This year, as in most years, there are no official commemorations or ceremonies. The Octavius Ministry of Culture reiterated its guidelines for commemoration of Exorzismus :

• This is a day of fasting. Food should not be served at any public establishments. Jump pilots are encouraged to remove all Organic Food and Manufactured Food from Oct Core, Great Pillars and Outpost stations. The drinking of water — as well as any ales, beers or meades brewed in Octavius — is acceptable.
• This is a day of atonement, where the sins required of us in the past years are burned Public bonfires are encouraged. The burning of any homes or buildings is strongly discouraged. While bonfires on out stations cannot be allowed, pilots can join together to heat up a roid until it turns blue to symbolically enjoy its “fire” within.
• This is a day of silence. While we do speak among our clan mates and friends, and kind of public chatter should be left to the lesser factions. WE should remain silent on those venues.

Dannewar Surfaces to Make Statement on Recent Findings

(Solrain Wake)  Seven days ago it was determined that the audio that was captured by Dr. Thane Dannewar did, indeed have underlying data.  Dr. Dannewar has been completely unavailable to the media, but today he released the following statement.

“Initially it was a very emotional time,” said Dannewar.  “You have to understand, I have been searching all of my life for answers about planet Solrain.  I’ve always had some irrational hope that it was out there to be found somewhere . . . still managing to survive.  I’m not sure this recent finding supports that hope.

“What we have appears to be a log created by a distress system.  After the initial entry at 5:52 all subsequent log entries are periodic, every five minutes.  The final intact entry is at 11:00.  There is some corruption of the data within this timeframe and that is unclear whether the log itself  was corrupted or the dataset became corrupted in the intervening time.

“The key is the date:  4816.16.8.  This is a Sorian Standard date-stamp.  The Sorian year 4816 corresponds to the TRI Year 2000 BT — the assumed year of The Great Collapse.  While we usually see Sorian dates expressed as ‘mm.dd’ it is not unheard of for that to be reversed in some systems – and that is the case here.  So the event triggering this distress system happened in 2000 BT at 5:52 on 8.16.  The system stopped recording at about 11:00.  So if we assume this is authentic (and I believe it is), we can hypothesize that what we are seeing is a five-hour period representing the initial effects of The Great Collapse – and, possibly, it’s final catastrophic effects.”

Dr. Dannewar said he is continuing his search for additional evidence of the lost planet, it’s current location, and its fate.

Pilots Team-Up to Decrypt Ancient Distress System Log

(Octavius Core Station)  Only a few hours after Hammer-BS announced his extraction of a dataset from the Dannewar audio stream, I was able to complete the decryption the data.

The decrypted data showed a stream of what appeared to be time-stamped emergency broadcasts . . . dates and times – repeating the message every 5 minutes with some portions apparently corrupted.

Year: 4810; Day: 16; Month: 8

Every time-stamp in the list was in increments of 5 – save for the initial one, which begs the question:  Could this be the exact time of whatever disaster occurred?  And if this was, indeed, a broadcast from the lost planet Solrain, as Dr. Dannewar believed, could 05:52 on 4810.16.8 be the initial warning for The Great Collapse?

The audio file is a carrier containing a secret message in it. I guess the noise was chosen to set people on the wrong track. I could extract the message but all I got was a new puzzle.

Audio Mystery Creates Flurry of Corporate Offers

(UUNN HQ) The recent release of an unusual audio file by Dr. Thane Dannewar has created a small flurry of offers by companies making promises to “find waldo” . . . for a fee.

According to Dr. Dannewar, overtures have been made by Ayabar Labs, Dorator Tech, Lexxor Intelligence and the SET Group.  “I find it pretty disgusting,” said Dannewar.  “I went looking for group problem-solving and all I got is group profit-seeking.  If they want to help — well I released the file.  Go ahead and help.  There won’t be any contracts.”

To date, the only analysis of the audio has been offered by data recover expert Jalil Aq’Tamm who felt the issue was one of “deep sound” — but had not been able to decode any potential underlying datasteam.   Another entity who refused to provide a name suggested they were focusing on a “spread spectrum” analysis.

Sol Scientist Believes He Has Identified Ancient Signal

Veteran Flux-Warrior Resurfaces

(Octavius Core Station)  In the last week, a name resurfaced in the duty rosters that only a handful of veteran pilots will remember:  RazorsKiss.   A former New Dawn squadron leader, RazorsKiss was heavily involved in early Conflux research with TRI-R and in the Amananth 20 affair.  He agreed to a brief interview regarding his disappearance — and recent return.

Hello, RazorsKiss – and welcome back to active duty after all these years.  Exactly how long were you gone from active duty?
As far as I can recall (things are a bit fuzzy, with the Collapse, NDC going dark, my injury…) I think I last logged flight time somewhere in early 104. 

What made you decide to return to flying?
I woke up – at Oct Core. I played some catch up – now older, and more than a little grey – and applied for reinstatement.
