Miner’s Days Activities Announced

by Yaz Shanndar

(Petrios, Quanus) Quantar leaders decided that this year’s Miners’ Days holiday will focus on its roots — local dirtside blessings, parades and traditions.

“Miners’ Days has very humble roots,” said Vazir A’Quina Meniokee.  “Spontaneous local parades are the true Quani tradition — with miners putting away their tools for the day, and marching through streets singing traditional miners’ reels, and carrying ceremonial shovels, chisels or picks (which are often heirlooms handed down for generations). It’s just a day of good-natured revelry with family, friends and neighbors,” she added.

The Vazir did point out that there will be a couple of Holiday activities for pilots:

On 120.9.4, the now-traditional Parable of Karadron recording will once again be released on UUNN.

On 120.9.5 from 12:01a – 12:00 midnight UTC (i.e. all day) there wil be a Pure Mining Contest  —  pilots, Quantar or gefir, who mine-out the most pure asteroids during this 24-hour period will win the following:

      • 1st Place – the Spade of Karadron award, a CM4 and 3 Antiflux ECMs
      • 2nd Place – Keval’s Thanks award and a CM4
      • 3rd place – Keval’s Thanks award and a CM3

Anyone mining 5 or more pure asteroids during the day will receive a Captain’s Commendation badge.

Meniokee also said that temples in all cities, town and stations will be offering a traditional Blessing of the Shovels along with the Parable readings.

E.R.I. Announces Contest Winners

by Yaz Shanndar

(UUNN HQ) Edgar Reece Industries (E.R.I.) has announced that it has received approval for awards to be given to the winners and participants in its The Dark Encounter Arena series:  Shuttles in the Dark, which was held on 120.5.3; and Lil Fighters in The Dark, which was held on 120.5.6.

*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

E.R.I. would like to thank the proud pilots of TRI who have made the launch of The Dark Encounter Arena not only a great bio-medical success, but also a great welcoming of our Company to your community in the Stars. In how short a time were 3 fully functioning battle POS constructed and stocked? I would love to claim E.R.I. had managed this impressive feat – but it was only with the pilots of TRI and their surprising willingness to experiment with prototype technology that allowed the first series of events in The Dark Encounter Arena to even take place.

Perhaps most surprising was the assistance that came to us from the Quantar Brotherhood. Pilot MLDeath single-handedly fulfilled the stocking requirements of all 3 stations for a nominal fee, and took the sudden-death beacon control win in the second round of Shuttles in the Dark. Pilot Nessos tested the first prototype of consciousness projection technology and has reported no ill effects! Military Legends spork and Ambrosius were the star competitors in the final round Lil’ Fighters in The Dark and took the victories with both score and beacon control.

Solrain pilots that contributed or participated include GrimGriz who cleared his criminal record to get in line with E.R.I. requirements, and then competed in all events using our experimental technology. Pilot Atlantis helped beta test the technology and set up for the event. Pilot Gucky competed in the opening round of Shuttles in the Dark  for Solrain, and Pilot DrPerky squared off against elite veterans from the other factions in Lil’ Fighters in The Dark.

Some of the best pilots Octavius has to offer also assisted in the opening of The Dark Encounter Arena. Pilot _RAZAAR_ flew alongside pilot C-note for a decisive Aptyrex win in the opening round of Shuttles in The Dark, and was leading the score in round 2 when MLDeath claimed the sudden-death Beacon. Octavian Vanguard pilot Algore represented the faction against Quantar’s Legends.

We have submitted the paperwork to the Bureau for awards for all competitors in this initial series of Dark Encounters, and extend our corporate gratitude to the others that helped make this possible – specifically the capital contributions of Nafcon and Lovemonk, silent pillars of this endeavor.

The Dark Encounter Arena is Edgar Reece Industries bringing competitive sporting to the Space Lanes, where Violence is only one path to Victory.

UUNN Newswire

(UUNN HQ)  Approximately 50 pilots (including several drones) were logged-in for duty during the Festival! 119 Holiday, and for most of the events there were at least a few contestants. The organizers in TRI Corporation have already been discussing ideas on how to improve next year’s events.

Pilots Choice Awards

A number of votes came in just under the wire and the final rush resulted in Clanlord receiving the required seven votes for the Pilots Choice Award for Econ Support.medal168

Clanlord was, by far, the leading overall vote-getter with 16 votes across all categories, but only received the required minimum of seven votes in one category.  There were a total of 13 qualifying voters, casting 59 votes (not everyone voted for each category). A number of people voted without including their Pilot handle — those votes were not counted. Continue reading

Festival 118! Comes to a Close

by Yaz Shanndar

(Quantar Core) Festival 118! came to a close with some mixed reviews.  About 40 pilots were online over the four days of the holiday, but according to TRI Corporation, which sponsors the annual holiday events, pilots participation in contests and events was fairly disappointing across the board.

Conversely, there was some disappointment with TRI Corp’s event management as well.  Pilot Sinver slammed the running of Friday’s Treasure Hunt event, saying:

“I was looking forward to this all,day while at work. I’ve wasted an entire evening because quite frankly, you couldn’t organize a piss up in a brewery. The clues were useless. Don’t even bother tomorrow. Just park the ship and forget about it. A great idea, really great idea terribly executed. My entire evening wasted. Thanks guys.”

Festival! 117 Awards Announced

by Yaz Shanndar

(Solrain Core) Awards for the Festival! 117 have been released — with a couple that were unexpected.  “Festival! is the biggest holiday of the year,” said Garth Taren, President & CEO of TRI Corporation.  “TRI Corporation works very hard and very closely with Solrain, Quantar and Octavius to sponsor a diverse series of holiday events that are available to a broad array of pilots of all levels.  This year we had races, contests, missions, trivia — and even a Haiku-writing contest.”

Taren went on to say that the Festival! holiday provides a perfect platfor for special recognitions:  “Festival! gets everyone’s attention in a unique way because it’s roots come from ALL of the factions.  This year, we are pleased to introduce a new, very prestigious award called ‘Sarath’s Orb,’ and along with that, we are absolutely thrilled that we will be able to announce two Pilots Choice Awards because there is nothing better than being recognized by your peers.” Continue reading

UUNN Newswire

Hammer-BS Receives Keval’s Thanks

UUNN Newswire

(UUNN HQ)  STCC Minister of Citizenry, Aljia Keval, broadcast a speech today announcing medal111today that the STCC is awarding the Keval’s Thanks medal to pilot Hammer-BS, for his work in completing the recent Solrain Faction Mission to rebuild the Sabre Missile Factory in Cornea sector:

On 116.6.28 we initiated a Faction Mission to rebuild our nuclear missile production facility.  A facility that had been destroyed by Conflux attacks.  It took twenty four days to complete this mission.  This rebuilding effort required 4,000 units of Aluminum; 400 units of Gold; 3,000 units of Machined Parts;  3,000 units of Construction Materials;  2,000 units of Fiber Optics ;  500 units of CPUs; 2,000 units of Manufactured Food;  and 5,000 units of Water.

It was a BIG mission.

In fact, it was the biggest mission we have initiated in over a decade.  It required just under 20,000 units of commodity to complete.

It took us a while to tabulate the figures, and when we saw the results, we had to go back and re-do all of the calculations, because clearly there had to be an error.

But when we re-counted, the result were the same. 18,680 units of the commodities required for this mission were delivered by a SINGLE PILOT!

Well I’m here today to tell you that the pilot’s name is Hammer-BS, and for his absolutely extraordinary effort, the STCC is awarding him a medal that was given my name name, many years ago — and so it give me a very special honor to present Hammer-BS with the Keval’s Thanks award.
