Genetic Analysis Connects Conflux to Extinct Sea Creature

by Thane Carios
(Cornea Station) Sutonia College announced today that the study of sentient conflux biomass by Prof. Athena ShaiDen indicates a genetic connection to the Giant Cephalosian, a long-extinct sea creature on Hypsos.
As noted in Prof. Athena Shaiden’s preliminary report on the genetic analysis of a donated sample of sentient conflux biomass, we have found some genetic markers which may indicate a family-level (“Oegopsina”) connection to the giant cephalosian — a deep sea invertebrate that had been found in Hypsos’ Tethiyan Ocean which has been extinct for more than 100 years. It should be noted that this is very a tenuous connection and that before drawing any conclusions, new, unique sentient biomass extractions — preferrably from different sources — would need to be studied.
The initial sentient conflux biomass samples were collected from a C14 sentient on 123.12.27 by pilot GrimGriz and were donated to Sutonia College by Edgar Reece Industries (E.R.I.).
As far as we know, just one captive (cloned) Cephalosian remains — and it is on display in the docking bay of Hyperial Station. According to our sources, a request by the college to Hyperial for a tissue sample was denied.

Yrral Urges “Partial” Hyp Mission Boycott

UUNN Newswire

(UUNN HQ)  In a rare public statement, Dr. Nevin Yrall, Vice President of TRI Research (TRI-R) has called for pilots to boycott parts of the current Hyperial Faction Mission.

“It’s really unbelievable,” said Yrral.  “We just completed a long and difficult mission to Hyp FMincrease Conflux Biomass inventories. We are in the midst of an historic infestation even that it putting a big dent in nuclear missile supplies.  And now Hyperial want pilots to take nukes to Hyperial for its ‘projects?'”

The Hyperial mission began yesterday on 120.2.14 calling for ‘several important commodities for its projects’ . . . saying ‘Speedy completion of this mission is critical.’

Infestation Overload

by Thane Carios

(Outpost Station)  Infestations have been popping up across space with increased frequency over the past couple of weeks — with some of them seeming impregnable.  What make this current flurry even more unusual is that there have been no reports of sentient conflux seeding or defending the infestations.infest2

“Something is definitely going on here,” said Carlo Adiar, the head of Conflux Studies for TRI-DEF (TRI Corporation, Defense & Security Division).  “And it’s not good.  We’re seeing infestations on the increase and nuke stocks on the decrease.  Pilots better get after this quickly or we’re going to have a problem.” Continue reading

Missions and More Missions
Well we saw a burst of mission activity in the last few weeks.  First Octavius and Quantar coordinated efforts (whaaaat???) to try to do something about Magnesium supplies.  Quants were, of course, mining and Octs were gathering.  The missions went pretty quickly but ultimately did fairly little to increase supplies.  At the same time, TRI Corporation sponsored a mission to collect Biomass — which is a pretty tricky task requiring pilot coordination to collect any serious amounts. I guess there was not a lot of coordination as there isn’t any biomass around and that mission is still standing at 29% after 23 days.  Lastly there was a mission to bring Medical Supplies to Great Pillars station.  That one initially seemed kind of like busy-work as there seemed to be no apparent need for Med Supplies, but whatever was delivered disappeared, so … Continue reading

Factions Respond to Pilot Calls for Missions

by Yaz Shanndar

(Quantar Depot)  After pilots called for Faction Missions, Quantar and Octavius responded yesterday with missions revolving around Magnesium — which has been in very short supply for a long time.

FM 118.2.23

The Quantar mission is to mine ice.  Unfortunately it kicked off with a bug in the mission program (which has supposedly been fixed now).  The Oct mission is to haul Magnesium to it’s Depot station for storage.  The challenge is that Ice ore yields only 3% magnesium, so it’ll require lots of coordinated work to get these things done.  Continue reading

Biomass Mission becoming Biomass Mystery?

By Thane Carios

(UUNN HQ) With Conflux Biomass in short supply and nuclear missile inventories dwindling, TRI Corporation sponsored an all-faction mission that began on 115.3.1 — a mission to collect biomass. But while this mission has progressed, any biomass collected has been disappearing from the markets.

“It’s hard enough trying to collect that damned stuff,” said one pilot who asked to remain anonymous. “If TRI or someone else is just hoarding the stuff we deliver, what’s the point? We need it to be producing nukes and that ain’t happening.”

A brief state from TRI Economics Spokesperson Sagrith Hubri simply said: “TRI Corporation is investigating the question of Biomass inventories.”
