(Hyperial Station) In a somewhat surprising late development, Berl Rismore, formerly a Senior Project Director at Samsun Universal, has decided to throw his hat into the ring as a candidate for Mayor of Barnard in the upcoming election to be held on 118.4.1.
Rismore recently became a member of The Directorate when he was chosen to assume the seat for his recently-deceased father. His decision to challenge Dr. Elin Araad, who had been running unopposed, has caused a political stir. He has launched his campaign using non-traditional media that breaks with Hyperial tradition in keeping all political debate private to Hyperial.
With little experience and almost no political capital, Rismore is not expected to pose much of a challenge to the incumbent.

(Hyperial Station) Everything on Hypsos went quiet for 15 minutes at noon today in remembrance of former President Dr. Kelvin Rauder whose 60th birthday it would have been today.
Rauder was elected on 098.4.1 and served as Hyperial President for more than 11 years up to his assassination on 109.11.5 — less than a year short of his 12-year term. From 12:00 to 12:15 (UTC) all businesses were shut down and comm-networks went silent. President, Drago Maximilian released the following statement.
Today, on his birthday, we remember the life of Dr. Kelvin Rauder — a man who led us through very interesting times. He stood strong against TRI, who refused us our rights because its strings were being pulled by the faction overlords. He opposed every Quantar attempt to undermine us. And through it all, he lead Hyperial to become a preeminent center of manufacturing and trade.
(UUNN HQ) Squad FluxGuts announced today that it has decided to move it base of operations from Amananth to Hyperial space, publishing the following letter:
To the President and Directorate of Hyperial, Greetings.
This is a formal announcement that Squad FluxGuts will begin the process of moving their primary sphere of operations to Hyperial space for the duration of the current Conflux aggression towards Hyperial. We, of course, will only concern ourselves with combating the Conflux while in your territory; as has long been my policy – whatever the Conflux want – they can’t have. Right now, that seems to be a blockade of Hyperial space. That is what we aim to deny them. I believe you know of me, and my squad – we recently put on a bit of a pyrotechnics display in honor of my old squadmate, samwise. As you read, that Fluxhunt was to focus on clearing the space lanes surrounding the bottleneck to your factional territory. This new move is phase 2 of our response to their recent incursions. My squadmate, Sinver, has been based in your territory for some time – but we’re preparing to base our entire squad’s active operations in Hyperial, instead of Amananth, as New Dawn did. I have an ulterior motive for this, but as I said, I wish to make a show of good faith by actually keeping to the terms of The Reconstruction Initiative, and keeping your space lanes safe, since you do not have a space capability of your own at present, due to pressures brought to bear by certain elements. I’m not prepared to argue the merits of that decision at this time – but believe me when I say that I have no animus towards Hyperial, and am concerned only with the safety of your sectors, and that of the pilots who come there to trade. If you are willing, we are prepared to move the venerable Conflux War Command Center, which I have recently unsealed and returned to service, to Hyperial Station. I will, of course, await your pleasure, and the authorization of your Station Governor before making such a move, however.
Once our bona fides are sufficiently established, perhaps we can then discuss some matters of mutual benefit. In the meantime, I hope that our actions demonstrate our friendship to Hypsos, and her people.

(Barnard, Hypsos) After leaving a meeting of The Directorate, Dr. Viggio Ragne, the Special Representative for the President, today called Quantar a terrorist state. “It is really no surprise,” said Ragne. “This has been a long-standing pattern of behavior for Quantar. They have consistently supported terrorist attacks on our people. Rewarding criminals, terrorists and murderers is an atrocity. We can only hope that the more principled factions will see this for what it is and take appropriate action.”
Hyperial has cut off the few communication channels it has with Quantar and has changed its official political status with Quantar to “War.”

(Barnard, Hypsos) Dr. Viggio Ragne publicly denounced yesterday’s attack in Hyperial sector: “Six Quantar pilots carried out a terrorist attack on Hyperial yesterday,” said Ragne. “The attack was an unprovoked response to an imagined threat — and now 17 people who had worked in the production building that was targeted are now dead.
“The criminals responsible for this atrocity are Ambrosius, Crackhead, Eismann, Hammer-BS, Nereid and Roidrider. Sadly our calls for help from the community went mostly unanswered so their vicious attacks took a severe toll.
“We are limited in our ability to prosecute and penalize — but let it be clearly known that these criminals are enemies or Hyperial and their political status here has been stripped. Now we call on Quantar and all of the other factions to do the civilized thing — bring these criminals to justice! Make them pay for the spouses left alone . . . the children left without a parent.”
Quantar declined an immediate statement on the pilots and the attack.

(Hyperial) Hyperial Special Representative, Dr. Viggio Ragne announced today that Jalil Aq’tamm, the well-known data recovery expert, is a fugitive from Hyperial and that a 10 million credit bounty has been placed on him.
According to Ragne, Aq’tamm had been wanted by Hyperial Security for questioning and his ship had been impounded — but somehow he evaded authorities and was able to gain access to his ship and launch.
Aq’tamm is no stranger to manhunts and intrigue. In late 114, he went missing after working on a mysterious DSS decryption. It was revealed later that he was actually in hiding after avoiding an attempted abduction. After releasing the decryption he eventually came out of hiding and began an independent DSS data recovery business, often aided by pilot Hammer-BS.
There have been no reports of Aq’tamm’s current location, though it is thought he has not ventured far from Hyperial.
UPDATE: To collect the bounty on Jalil Aq’tamm, a screen shot showing the “kill message” should be sent to Hyperial: email@example.com.
(Hyperial Station) Two Octavius pilots — Blonder and Fenrir — are wanted by Hyperial authorities for questioning. According to Hyperial, the station’s automated Customs-Scanning systems set off an alert just moments after the pilots launched.
“We are not aware that anything has been stolen,” said Hyperial Dockmaster Renn Torrey. “But the system showed a NO-SCAN right at the time these two individuals launched — as if the scan was being jammed. We can’t tell which ship triggered the fault as they launched almost simultaneously.”
Hyperial has also submitted a formal complaint to Octavius, asking for its aid in obtaining information from these pilots.
