Emperors Disclaim Faction Mission

(UUNN HQ)  Emperors Venticus and Cineon released a statement on the current Octavius Faction Mission this morning:

After much consideration and discussion, we have decided that it is best for everyone that we do not remain silent about the curent “Octavius” Faction mission.  This mission is, in fact, NOT an Octavius mission.  The mission was initiated by Empress Iulia without our agreement or consent — which would be the norm for such things.  In our opinions, it is not a mission that benefits Octavius and we would encourage pilots to carefully consider this before participating any further.  This mission is a mission to benefit Martius . . . and more specifically the Empress herself.

We consider this situation to be anomalous and still consider Octavius to be united in purpose, with a strong, bright future for all of our planets.

Although the planets of Octavius have had a contentious and sometimes violent history, there has been nothing hinting at this level of discord since Octavius joined The Recontruction Initiative almost 100 years ago.

Questions Circulate as Octavius is Silent on Major Holiday

(UUNN HQ)  Pilots, citizens and many officials have all been puzzled bu the complete silence in the run-up to the Octavius Feast of the Fallen holiday which began today.  Prior years have had varying levels of planned activities, but never complete silence — which has lead to rumors of internal turmoil.

One official on Ares Prime who refused to go on-record said, “Emperor Venticus has said before that he does not view this holiday as a party.  He believes it’s an important time for everyone of Octavius to reflect and honor in their own way . .  according to our honored traditions.  That is all.”

Feast of the Fallen Begins 121.5.28

(Ares Prime) With Empress Iulia refusing to participate in the Ministries Rotation, Ares Prime has offered to host this year’s Feast of the Fallen holiday, which runs from 121.5.28 through 121.5.30.

Day of Remembering – 121.5.28

While Emperor Venticus will not lead a live Recitation of Heroes, he has called for all citizens of Octavius to submit their own remembrances for him to release publicly through UUNN.  Submissions should be received prior to the beginning of the holiday.

Day of Battle – 121.5.29

The Bleeding Skies — All Octavius is called upon to tune beacons RED across Octavius — and throughout all space — for the entire day.

Members of the lesser factions are welcome to challenge those actions.

Day of Feasting – 121.5.30

The New Empress Speaks Out

(UUNN HQ) The following statement was released from Empress Iulia in the Imperial Palace on Martius:

The Atreus line has returned to Martius and the Atticus usurpers from Ares Prime have finally been wiped away.  Septus is dead.  Aqilus is dead.  Rnenta is dead.

Montona has fled.

I have sent word through the Legatio to Cina that Septus’ crazy dog Zarkwon needs to be returned to us.  And the museum and statue of the usurper who murdered my ancestor have been destroyed.  The slate is clean.

I reach out to Venticus and Cineon to join with me in finding a way to make Octavius the empire it was meant to be.  For many years, we have been held back – first by by TRI and then by internal squabbling.  It’s time for a new way.

Sources on Ares Prime indicate that there may be concern about the lineage claimed by the Empress, and that this would clearly need to be verified.  The last Atreus Emperor was Marcelus I, who died (executed by Atticus VI) over 160 years ago.  He had one son and two daughters.

The stance of Cinatus is unknown at this time.

New Leader Emerges on Martius

(Danubia, Martius)  After two days of silence and uncertainty, Iulia (pronounced: eye-OOO-lee-ah) Atreus has emerged as the leader of the coup that displaced Atticus Aqilus, the interim Consul on Martius.  Although there has been no official statement, she is allegedly taking the title “Empress “ based on her direct relationship to Marcelus I (Marcelus Atreus) – the last “non-Atticus” emperor of Martius who was executed in 45BT when Atticus VI took the united thrones of Octavius.

At age 27 Iulia is the same age as Emperor Venticus when he took the throne on Ares Prime in 115.  Etruscera is still locked-down and it is unknown how she gained control of the Imperial Guard.  There has been no official word from either Ares Prime or Cinatus endorsing or denouncing the coup.

Septus Autopsy Yields Shocking Results

Although there has been no official report, I have heard from trustworthy sources that an autopsy was performed on the recently-deceased Emperor, and the results were pretty shocking.  It appears that Septus has been kept alive for some time with the aid of illegal Prosthetics and other dangerous drugs.  Some have suggested that, if this is true, then Septus technically lost his legitimacy to rule when his natural organs (allegedly) began being replaced.

DSS Data Raises Questions

An individual going by the name R. Cain has been asking questions about DSS and has put some interesting (but not conclusive) data together.  What he has found is that most of the DSS that have been recovered and deciphered are not pre-collapse artifacts.  In fact, only 35% of them (at most) are pre-collapse.  Given that fact, he goes on to question whether other artifacts may also be of more recent origin … which would then open of a whole new set of questions.

I had hoped to get Jalil Aq’tamm’s opinions on this, but he has not responded to my questions.

Epidemic in Trivera; Emperor Evacuated

(Ares Prime) An unknown type of deadly hemorrhagic fever virus has swept like a wave over the capital city and it’s population of 11.9 million.  The Imperial Health Ministry has now declared it to be an epidemic, with more than five hundred fatalities reported.

Reports are that Emperor Venticus and his retinue have been evacuated to an unknown location.  All transportation in or out of the city has been shut down.

Salve, Octavius!

Tomorrow we begin the Feast of the Fallen, our High Holiday.  Some have asked why we have not had announcements and scheduled contests.  But to me our Feast of the Fallen is not a party.  It is not a time for games.  This is the time when we of Octavius remember our ancestors … our heroes … because it is they who make us what we are.  And through our honoring and remembering our roots we become stronger in our understanding of what it mean to be Octavius.  It prepares us to become what WE will be.  So as time passes, there can be more great memories to recall on the Day of Remembrance.

Odd Silence on Oct Feast

(UUNN HQ)  There has been absolutely no word about plans for the Octavius Feast of the Fallen which begins in just two days on 118.5.25.  If the normal cycle was followed, Ares Prime would be hosting and Emperor Venticus would be the official host.  Venticus also currently oversees the Octavius Ministry of Culture — which has not responded to our queries.

The last time Ares Prime hosted the Feast of the Fallen, Clements IV was assassinated during the Recitation of Heroes ceremony.

Octavius Readies for Exorzismus

(Ares Prime)  Emperor Venticus Marius released a brief statement today on the upcoming commemoration of Exorzismus.

Hail Octavius!  On the last day of this month, we commemorate one of our most sacred days — Exorzismus.  It is a day for introspection and atonement.  It is a day to refresh our deepest selves.  A day when we make ourselves stronger, more focused and more dedicated to the Empire.

This year, as in most years, there are no official commemorations or ceremonies. The Octavius Ministry of Culture reiterated its guidelines for commemoration of Exorzismus :

• This is a day of fasting. Food should not be served at any public establishments. Jump pilots are encouraged to remove all Organic Food and Manufactured Food from Oct Core, Great Pillars and Outpost stations. The drinking of water — as well as any ales, beers or meades brewed in Octavius — is acceptable.
• This is a day of atonement, where the sins required of us in the past years are burned Public bonfires are encouraged. The burning of any homes or buildings is strongly discouraged. While bonfires on out stations cannot be allowed, pilots can join together to heat up a roid until it turns blue to symbolically enjoy its “fire” within.
• This is a day of silence. While we do speak among our clan mates and friends, and kind of public chatter should be left to the lesser factions. WE should remain silent on those venues.
