Quant Core Organic Foods Processing Shut Down after Contamination Sickens Hundreds

(Quantar Core Station)  Four have died and several hundred more were sickened on Quantar Core — some critically — by contaminated Organic Food from the Quantar Core processing facility.  The outbreak started on 124.1.9 and medical personnel quickly identified Organic Food consumption as the common link.

“Our medical emergency staff was amazing,” said Delphia Neamru, Governor of Quantar Core.  “If it was not for their quick diagnosis, there would have been many more victims.  Processing was shut down and all shipments stopped within an hour of the contamination alert.”

“The contaminant was a neurotoxin derived from ekel venom,” said TRI-Security Commandant Solder Ronin, “so this was clearly an act of sabotage.  Furthermore, D&L records for the period from midnight UTC on 124.1.8 and 00:40 UTC on 124.1.9 were wiped.  And during low-traffic times like those, flight decks are usually empty.  We plan on interviewing the following pilots who were on-duty during that general time period:  Boelling, Flint, Malachite, Nel, Nari and Tork.”

Ekels are enormous predatory sea creatures native to Martius.  Their venom is located in their dorsal fins.  We asked the Office of Empress Iulia Atreus about Ekel venom.  The reply was:

“Her Highness says that Ekels do not surrender their venom very easily . . . so this was an impressive feat of skill, determination and valor.”

Quantar Core is one of the largest exporters of Organic Foods generating approximately 40u per hour. Officials hope processing can be resumed within a week, once investigations are completed and all equipment has been sanitized.

Protester Dies in QC Explosion

(UUNN HQ) In the midst of the controversy over the growing nuclear missile stockpiles, an explosion was reported in Quantar Core sector causing panic and a brief lock-down on the station.

Station Governor Delphia Neamru released the following statement:

Today at approximately 19:00 UTC, there was an explosion outside Quantar Core Station.  The reports are that one of the individuals protesting nuclear stockpiles apparently rented an orbital shuttle and loaded four nuclear missiles into its cargo.  Shortly after launch, the missiles detonated.  It is unclear whether this was intentional or an accident.  Unfortunately, orbital shuttles do not have LifePod(tm) escape pods.

Other than the unfortunate death of the shuttle pilot, the only other damage was to the Chinook Naval Yard.  The damage is slight and should be repaired shortly

Pilots Report Blue Roids; Quantar Launches Research Mission

(Quantar Core)  Questions started coming in on 118.7.20 according to Quantar Core Station Governor Delphia Neamru.  “We started getting question whether there was a surge of new recruits,” said Governor Neamru.  “All of the roids close to our docking rings were bright blue — usually a sure sign of new pilots.  But as time wore on they stayed blue — and the logs showed that we have not seen any kind or new-recruit influx.”

Asteroids are heated during the mining-laser extraction process.  As they heat, the extraction becomes less and less efficient until at 930 degrees, the extraction process stops altogether, and cannot be resumed until the asteroid has cooled.

“It just doesn’t make sense,” said Third Tahir, Dr. Silar Tashawar, who has degrees in Geology and Economic Petrology, as well as a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the Jenos School of Mines.  “Space is not any warmer than it was a week ago.  The heating is a very short-term effect of laser extraction.  But obviously there’s some reason … so we have launched a major mission to re-calibrate some beacons to try to determine what’s happening.  We’ve also been scanning and monitoring a number of different rocks … but just not finding anything,” he said, shaking his head.

Although, the non-cooling asteroids first became apparent in Quantar, it appears that most, if not all, other areas of space have been impacted.  Venurian Prospecting, which manufactures most mining lasers in use today, has confirmed that there has been no changes or issues in its mining laser manufacturing process.
