(Solrain Core) In 085 a 28-year-old Demeter Garreth was elected Speaker for Soria. Today, at age 60, she took over as Premier, replacing the retiring Cristofore Parce, who made the following statement at the transition ceremony:
Today, with mixed emotions, I leave this great office. It has been my honor to lead the STCC for 20 years. Since that time, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges, and come through them stronger. That’s because we have never let go of a belief that has guided us ever since the inception of the Reconstruction Initiative — our conviction that, together, we can change anything and everything . . . for the better.
I have great confidence in Premier Garreth’s abilities as a leader — which she has demonstrated over and over. And it gives me great comfort in transferring this Office to her.
Some believed that Garreth, who is turning 61 shortly, may retire from political office at the end of her current Speaker’s term in two months. When asked about that, she replied: “To be honest, I had not decided. I certainly have not been campaigning the way I had in the past at this time. But when this entirely new challenge was presented . . . well, this old girl just loves new challenges.”
